The team, led by Adam Jolly, Nadine Mauch and Jett Walker, successfully completed another midwater BRUVS survey in the Perth Canyon this month, marking a significant offshore field effort.

A total of 100 BRUVS were deployed during the survey. The last survey at this site was conducted in 2022, with earlier monitoring undertaken at intermittent intervals, contributing to our broader understanding of pelagic ecosystems in the region.

We extend our sincere thanks to skipper Mike Tropiano of Ningaloo Expeditions for his continued support and expertise in facilitating offshore operations aboard the vessel Peppe de valigia. Operating in the Perth Canyon presents logistical and environmental challenges, and the success of this survey reflects careful planning and strong teamwork.

This work forms part of broader research efforts to improve understanding of offshore marine ecosystems in Western Australia and to support evidence-based management into the future.
