World Ocean Day 2026

World Ocean Day reminds us of the ocean's vital role in sustaining life on Earth and the importance of protecting marine ecosystems through science and conservation.

At the BRUVS Lab, our research uses Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems (BRUVS) to monitor marine wildlife and generate the data needed to support effective marine protected areas and ocean management.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) highlighted the work of Professor Jessica Meeuwig AM and the Marine Futures Lab, showcasing how long-term monitoring is helping build the evidence base for future marine conservation decisions.
